Clue Scrolls — Easy, Medium, Hard & Elite

Everything you need to run clues on SpawnPvP — the four tiers, every way to get a scroll, every dig and combat step, and how RuneLite’s Clue Scroll plugin still helps.

Everything you need to run clues on SpawnPvP — the four active tiers, every way to get a scroll, every step you can be given and how to solve it, and how RuneLite’s Clue Scroll plugin still helps on the cryptic digs.

The four clue scrolls

SpawnPvP runs four clue tiers. Each one has its own scroll, its own casket, and its own trail length. You can hold one Easy, one Medium, one Hard, and one Elite at the same time. Scrolls are untradeable. Destroying a scroll only resets that difficulty — the others stay.

Easy

Steps per clue
2
Step types
Dig only
Extra casket
1 in 50
Drop weight
50%

Medium

Steps per clue
3 – 4
Step types
Digs + wilderness kills
Extra casket
1 in 40
Drop weight
30%

Hard

Steps per clue
6 – 8
Step types
Digs, kills, black chins
Extra casket
1 in 30
Drop weight
15%

Elite

Steps per clue
5 – 10
Step types
Digs + wilderness bosses
Extra casket
1 in 25
Drop weight
5%

Elite can be shorter than Hard. It pays for that with the best casket and a better extra-casket chance. The length of a trail is rolled when the server assigns it — Easy is always two digs.

How to get clue scrolls

Scrolls drop from NPC kills and from Safe PvP kills. Tougher NPCs drop them more often. When a scroll would drop, the server picks a difficulty you do not already own.

↔ On a narrow screen, drag the table sideways to see every column.

SourceWhat you getChance
NPC kill
Chance scales with NPC hitpoints, then is floored at 1 in 80
Easy, Medium, Hard or Elite — whichever tier you do not already hold About 1 in (300 − HP × 0.72). Ring of wealth 1.04×, imbued ring 1.11×
Safe PvP kill Same four-tier roll, skipping a difficulty you already own 1 in 20 per kill

The difficulty roll itself is weighted: Easy 50%, Medium 30%, Hard 15%, Elite 5%. If you already have that tier, it walks to the next unused one. If you already have all four, you get nothing until you finish or destroy one.

Running a clue, step by step

  1. Read the scroll

Click the clue scroll in your inventory. The clue interface opens and shows your current step. A trail is assigned the first time that tier needs progress.

  2. Solve the step

Easy is always a cryptic dig. Medium, Hard and Elite mix those same digs with wilderness kill and hunter steps. The scroll must stay in your inventory for a combat or catch step to count — a banked scroll does not.

  3. Check remaining steps

Right-click and choose check steps. Chat prints something like Easy clue: 1 of 2 steps remaining plus the current task.

  4. Collect the casket

The last step deletes that scroll and gives you the matching casket. There is then one extra roll for a second casket of the same or lower release — never higher, never more than two. If inventory is full the extra drops under you.

Carry a spade

A spade is what performs a dig. Digs have a six-tile margin, so you do not need to stand on the exact coordinate — close is enough. Easy trails never ask you to kill anything.

Every dig cryptic

All four tiers draw from the same pool of fifteen classic OSRS cryptics. Learn these once and you have learned the dig half of SpawnPvP clues. These are the same riddle texts the RuneLite Clue Scroll plugin already knows.

↔ On a narrow screen, drag the table sideways to see every column.

Combat and hunter steps

These are SpawnPvP-custom steps. The RuneLite plugin does not solve them — use this table. A kill or catch only counts if that difficulty’s scroll is in your inventory.

↔ On a narrow screen, drag the table sideways to see every column.

Medium, Hard and Elite trails always include at least one dig. Bring the scroll with you into the wild.

RuneLite Clue Scroll plugin

SpawnPvP RuneLite still ships the stock Clue Scroll plugin. Turn it on. For SpawnPvP it is most useful on the fifteen cryptics above — those riddles are the same texts the plugin already maps.

  • Cryptics — shows who to talk to or where to dig, plus a hint arrow.
  • Coordinates, maps, fairy rings — world-map markers if a classic OSRS step ever appears.
  • Anagrams, ciphers, emotes, challenge scrolls — answers and NPC locations.
  • Hot/Cold — walks you through the temperature loop.
  • Puzzle Solver — a separate plugin that clicks puzzle boxes for you.

What the plugin will not do

It does not know SpawnPvP’s wilderness kill list, black chinchompas, or the extra-casket roll. If the interface says “Kill a Revenant” or “Catch a black chinchompa”, this page is the source of truth — not the overlay.

Casket rewards

Opening a casket increments your clue-scroll completion count — finishing a step does not. Each open rolls:

  • 1 in 5 — a stack of the server’s main currency (100–2,000 gp, or 100,000–1,500,000 on iron accounts).
  • 1 in 15 — a decorative / treasure-trail item from that casket’s normal table, with a further 1 in 5 chance at a second normal item.
  • 1 in 200 — a rare (3rd age, ring of nature, and similar). If the rare table misses, you still get one more normal item.

Caskets are tradeable. Scrolls are not. Bloodhound from the normal tables is unique and untradeable — if you already own it, the server rerolls.

Extra casket, if it hits

Finished tierSecond casket
EasyAlways another Easy (1st-release) casket
Medium70% Medium, otherwise Easy
Hard60% Hard, 25% Medium, 15% Easy
Elite50% Elite, 25% Hard, 15% Medium, 10% Easy

Every number on this page comes from the live SpawnPvP clue code — ClueDifficulty and ClueScroll — not from a guessed OSRS wiki table.
